John McCain just lobbed the country one whopper of a curveball by crowning Sarah Palin his Vice Presidential pick. In doing so, he picked as blank a slate as possible in the eyes of the nation. How the media will fill that space is the question.
It's hard to make sense of why McCain went in the direction he did with Palin.

On August 23, Michael Parenti-noted liberal scholar, political scientist, and author-spoke before a small crowd at the Nonesuch Gallery about "Capitalism's Apocalypse"-a phrasing that even Parenti himself wasn't entirely confident of. Despite the heady doomsday title of the lecture, his succinct observations on a country in demise illustrated how capitalism has not only run up again its ecological limits, and it is completely antithetical to a true democracy.

In the 1960s, The Association recorded a song entitled "Enter The Young."
That well could describe the 2008 Laney College football team.
The Eagles, coming off a 10-1 campaign in 2007 that was capped off with their third straight bowl victory, must replace 19 starters from that team.

The San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders have a lot in common going into the 2008 NFL season. Both teams are unlikely to win half of their games, have a consistent starting quarterback or have a highly effective passing game.
On a positive note though, the Bay Area teams should both finish with a better record than last season.

I have a hobby that might seem fairly quirky. I have white metal miniatures between two to three inches tall that I enjoy painting, and some people find that odd. That's fine, because not everyone understands what I enjoy about painting miniatures or even playing tabletop games with them.

With 50 million albums sold worldwide, there shouldn't be any doubts as to why Linkin Park is the biggest band of the decade.
When they took the stage at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on Aug. 9 in front of over 20,000 people, they proved exactly why thousands of screaming fans ranging from 13-year-old teenyboppers decked out in Linkin Park gear to 50-year-old metalheads keep showing up to their shows, especially on this year's Projekt Revolution Tour.

A year ago a daily parking permit cost a dollar, but since the Spring '08 semester parking costs have risen dramatically to two dollars. We at the Skyline View don't believe it should rise this much despite the reasons offered by school administrators.
Currently the school is undergoing budget difficulties because the parking fund has acquired a deficit.

Summer is a time for students to let go of school and have a good time. What they do for a good time differs from student to student. Some like to make money, some like to take vacations and some like to just chill out and do nothing.
